The Katona József Theatre was born in 1982 as an independent company in the Sándor Petőfi Street, Budapest. It became a dominant theatre of Budapest in a short time. Even after three decades, its audience is still entertained by excellent, internationally recognized performances. The company first tour abroad was in 1985, since then they set foot at five continents' forty countries. During the last decades, a Russian classical play was on repertoire in each season; the guest appearances of this shows abroad were widely applauded. More pieces of classics (Shakespeare, Molière), in addition to first-rate contemporary drama plays have been staged. During three decades, hundreds of artists, including the first presentation of now renowned playwrights, made a bond with the Katona as member or guest of the company. The company was founded in 1998 under the leadership of Béla Pintér, who stages his own plays and performs in them as an actor.” It is the artists’ intention to create contemporary productions based on critical-ironic observations of society and themselves. The surreal world which generally characterises their productions is constructed from a combination of reality and dream, of authentic and kitsch, and from sundry elements of Hungarian culture. Thanks to their success, the company is nowadays regarded as one of the most significant and most inventive creative workshops.

Josef Nadj comes to Nagyharsány with his legendary piece, Woyzeck. "Szkipe" (/skɪpe/, the nickname of Nadj) from Vojvodina founded the JEL Színház (SIGN Theatre) in 1986, which became world famous, thus it is not by chance that he became the artistic director of the Avignon Festival in 2006 and he was awarded with the European Theatre Award by the European Commission in the same year. Josef Nadj started his career in fine arts, he draws, photographs and shoots films for his pieces regularly; during the Devil's Cauldron, he'll join the "speak of the devil" project to paint the story of the devil's legend on the wall of the local history museum. The Borbély Workshop was founded around the millennium turn feeding from both folk and world music, as well as jazz and contemporary music. Their improvisational music can be characterized as a combination of different jazz trends, the heritage of the Carpathian and Balkan folk music, using interesting melody turns and sometimes subtly translucent, other times powerful rhythms, with additional contemporary musical elements.

This years’ Guest of Honor presents his new album. 2013 was a very successful year for Félix Lajkó. He produced his first album, ’Field’ truly all about zither music, what the critics applauded and next he had great news: the album was nr.1 on the World Music Chart Europe top list. Félix has been using that same zither for thirty years now, which he got from his mother back in time. His album is a milestone for people playing and understanding zither music, there was never seen anything like this before in the genre.
