Edina Mókus Szirtes

Being in love concert to sad ones and dreamers

„Szirtes Edina Mókus is one of the most deviant phenomenons in the Hungarian world music scene. She’s a very rare mixture: a virtuosic professional with routine, and still a 100% genial individual. The audience can identify her assertive violin roulades with ease even if she plays folk, chanson, Oriental or contemporary music, her sweeping-pure vocals stand above any kind of streams. I would name the first Hungarian hurricane after her, the little sister of Katrina and Sandy.” (János Lackfi)

Of course, happy people are not banned from the concert, either, but this evening undoubtedly would like to offer consolation, inspire thoughts, and induce daydreaming but not with discordance or bally ho. This is why poems of renowned Hungarian poets are going to be played, orchestrated on string quartet. A hand-picked selection of the two solo albums complemented with the most known Mókus-songs will be performed. The concert crosses musical boundaries (classical music, world music, jazz) while preserves classical musical traditions and values too.
