The Coyote Dancing with the Stars
Yvette Bozsik Company
Our patron, Tamás Cseh is always present in one way or another, he shows up at each Ördögkatlan Festival even though he’s been watching us from the happy hunting ground since 6 years now. Selected and translated by – this is usually written to his Native American tales, however, the writer of these lines knows, because he witnessed it, that Tamás has written these tales by himself (although he undoubtedly relied on by him well-known Native American tales). Since Tamás, or Smoke on his Indian name, was not only a Singer but a great Storyteller, too. - by László Bérczes
The new performance by the Yvette Bozsik Company created for children adapts North American Native American folk tales. The tales were put in the hands of Hungarian children with the title The Coyote Dancing with the Stars, compiled by Tamás Cseh and illustrated with the paintings of his son, András Cseh. The various stories in the book are choreographed by young choreographers and by students of the Hungarian Dance Academy and are directed by Yvette Bozsik.
“The history of Native Americans is more than 10,000 years old. Creation myths, stories of battles and braves, stories with morals and legends were left to posterity through tales. This is how mysterious creators and creatures, which, according to the beliefs of Native Americans shaped the future of people and the world, have become personal acquaintances. Dreams and true stories were handed down to the next generations through tales about the nature of the sun and the stars, about the soul of mountains and waters, about the magical properties of animals and their healing powers. Just like songs, tales were also a shared and personal treasure. Sometimes they gave each other tales as gifts.”
