Macskák Esernyővel

i.e. the k2 team shows another side, too

The Macskák Esernyővel (“Cats with umbrella”) band started out as a quiet soul duo, founded by Barbi and Bence. They figured they’d write letters to Liza, let everybody decide who Liza is herself, which texts are going to nicely set to music. These letters are though like entries from a diary. Something happens and we write about it, addressing the Liza of our soul that it is not that certain that the situation is so bad. And it seemed to be timely to extend the correspondence with three more young mean – this is how Ádám, Martin and Bazsi got into the picture.

We like the monotony, the excitements residing in the simplicity, and that little world in which (if not in real life) we are still birds and we can sing along with Liza who is so important to us. Because after a while nothing else really remains. These songs are inspired by such and similar jolly experiences and we would not like to overcomplicate the thing. Like an oddly impressionist minimalist-poetry. But we are not so cool that we should address our own activity, so let’s remain at the “campfire-mooning” music category.

The piquancy of our common sitting (sometimes standing) quiet sitting is that a lot of non-musicians are aiming to articulate the according to them important thoughts, they may be important according to someone else, too. What does this mean? That it is about young theatre makers. Actors, directors. So they only act as if. But this they do at least with honest enthusiasm. Until they have something to write about those letters.
